This summer we benefited from the assistance of five student interns on various research projects. Brock Hoback, Bendik Langfeldt, Adriana Linares-Marimon, Jeffrey Mo and Ryan Stevens are/were all Masters students at the LSE. Brock and Bendik researched and worked on an online chapter of Jon Danielsson’s book Global Financial Systems. Adriana assisted in gathering and analysing years of data related to the history of financial crisis. Ryan made a lot of progress in software engineering involving the statistical package R on a survey of macro prudential policy, with a special focus on the connection to income inequality. Jeffrey assisted in building an SQL database on stocks and securities data.
Sonya Redman, an LLM graduate at the LSE, also left us this summer having completed a project on the analysis of the systemic and governance implications of contingent convertibles (Cocos). Bixuan Xu assisted in developing theoretical models of systemic risk and is now an Investment Graduate at Allianz Global Investors.
Despite the teething computer problems and the shortage of fans, all of our research assistants showed much enthusiasm and contributed to our research in many ways using their skills and expertise in areas of economics and finance. We enjoyed quite a few drinks, meals and cakes together during these summer months. We wish them all the best in pursuing their future careers and studies.
