This event features a fireside chat between Eze Vidra and Juanita González-Uribe on a variety of topics in entrepreneurial finance such as: the paths to venture capital investment, venture partnerships, Reimagine Ventures’ investment thesis, venture capital and generative AI: are we at the dawn of a new AI-powered start-up boom?

This lecture series focuses on the role of finance in the entrepreneurial journey. The aim is to improve our understanding of the role of early-stage financiers in the start-up and scale-up of new ventures. Discussions will touch upon several research topics like the types of constraints that limit the start and growth of new companies, and the role of specialized financiers, as well as policy, in mitigating them.

Eze Vidra is Co-founder and Managing Partner at Remagine Ventures. Previously, he was a General Partner at Google Ventures (GV), Alphabet’s venture capital arm, the European head of Google for Entrepreneurs and the founding head of Campus London, Google’s first physical hub for startups, now available in 7 countries and 30 partner hubs. While at Google, Eze spearheaded strategic commerce partnerships in EMEA, and helped launch Google Shopping, Local Shopping, and Google Wallet in various European markets.

Before joining Google, Eze held product management leadership roles at Shopping.com in Israel, Gerson Lehrman Group in New York, Ask.com in Silicon Valley, and AOL Europe in London, where he was the principal product manager for search in EMEA. In 2003, Eze co-founded a startup in Israel, developing text-input technology for mobile phones. He is the author of two patents on web search and online advertising.

In 2012, Eze founded Techbikers, a non-profit bringing together the startup ecosystem around long-distance cycling challenges to support children’s education in the developing world, supporting Room to Read, a leading non-profit focused on girls’ education and children’s literacy in Asia and Africa. Techbikers has built 9 schools and 37 libraries in the developing world, impacting over 45,000 children since its inception and has grown its community of founders, VCs and techies to over 1,000 members.

Eze received his B.A. in business and IT management cum laude from IDC in Israel where he also participated in the prestigious Zell Entrepreneurship program, and has an MBA from London Business School. A native Argentinean raised in Israel, Eze is fluent in Spanish, Hebrew, and English, and resides in London with his family. Eze is a non-executive director at Chargifi, a wireless charging startup and at UK-Israel Business, a bilateral trade organisation supporting economic activity between the two countries, and Vault AI.

Juanita González-Uribe is Associate Professor in Finance at the London School of Economics. Her research focuses on entrepreneurship, private equity and innovation. Her work spans different regions including Latin America, the UK, and the USA.
